I have been working with a professor at Wuhan University and I call him Dr. Wang. When I started my signature project I did not know who to find because there are no teachers in my school that is an experts at marketing, there are teachers that teach econ but it did not have a lot to do with my project on an advertisement, that is when I found my parents and they told they our family friend teaches marketing and consumer behavior in a university.
“Why did you agree to teach me?” I asked during the interview,
“Well, first it is because it is a favor from your parents but then as I started to teach you, I felt like you are a blank paper that has not been stained from the wrong information from others on this topic, I have always wanted to teach high schoolers because my daughter is also in high school, so I thought this would be a great opportunity.” Dr. Wang replied.
As we started on the project it was going better than I thought because I already had little knowledge on this topic due to my stern precollege program experience, I did not have a deep understanding but this knowledge helps me to better understand the words and the difficult tense that he says. We met every 2 weeks and we would discuss the project and our further steps, for the first and second months with Dr.Wang we learned about the background information and the things I would need to know for me to analyze my data and create a thorough ppt
“It is necessary for you to know how to create a customer journey, and perceptual map for you to fully understand the brands and know what they are campaigning for.” Said Dr. Wang during the interview.
Then for the rest of the months, we started to rap up the class and move on to creating the survey that I am almost done with right now. Everything is going in progress, and there are also difficulties.
“What were some difficulties that you believe we have encountered during this project?” I asked,
“It definitely the creation of the surveys, I remember you were so confident with the first survey that you created and went passing them to people, but it did not work out because you want the consumers to be a variety of people, and I told you to narrow them down, you were stubborn, so we had multiple drafts, and at last you compromised. These difficulties are a good thing for you in the future and I like how you go on and find your own way.” Said, Dr. Wang
This project is really fun and exciting for me to work on and as I work more with dr. Wang, I become more interested in this whole experience.
